Formula:
Benzathine Penicillin G 3,000,000 IU; Potassium Penicillin G 1,500,000 IU; Procaine Penicillin G 1,500,000 IU; Streptomycin sulfate 1,250 mg (base); Dihydrostreptomycin sulfate 1,250 mg (base)
Action:
TETRABIOTICO HAMPTON establishes high and immediate antibiotic levels of penicillins (Penicillin G and Procaine Penicillin) in blood serum, which persist for several days thanks to the slow absorption of Benzathine Penicillin G. With the addition of Streptomycin and Dihydrostreptomycin, antibiotics that act against gram-negative organisms, the spectrum of action is broadened.
Indications:
TETRABIOTICO HAMPTON is indicated in all cases of common infections caused by germs sensitive to penicillins and streptomycins. In secondary infections following surgical procedures, superficial and deep abscesses, castration, actinomycosis, actinobacillosis, equine strangles (adenitis), arthritis, polyarthritis, bacterial pneumonia/bronchopneumonia, bacterial or symptomatic anthrax, cystitis, colibacillosis, endometritis, swine erysipelas, leptospirosis, nephritis-pyelonephritis, osteomyelitis, otitis, necrotic pododermatitis (foot rot), mastitis, pneumoenteritis, pasteurellosis, metritis.
Precautions:
In horses, highly concentrated antibiotic suspensions such as TETRABIOTICO HAMPTON may cause irritation of tissues adjacent to the injection site.
Restrictions of Use:
At least 30 days must pass between the last treatment and slaughter of animals whose meat is intended for human consumption. Do not administer to horses intended for human consumption. Do not administer to dairy cows during lactation.
Contraindications:
The product should not be applied to animals with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins. Allergic reactions may occur in sensitive subjects; these reactions can be controlled with the appropriate use of adrenaline-based medications or antihistamines. Using high doses and prolonged treatments may cause ototoxic effects in dogs and cats.
Dosage and Routes of Administration:
In all cases doses are subject to the judgment of the attending professional. Recommended dose for penicillins: Cattle and horses 8,000 - 15,000 IU/kg bw. Sheep, pigs and goats 10,000 - 15,000 IU/kg bw - Dogs and cats 20,000 - 40,000 IU/kg bw. Recommended dose for streptomycin and dihydrostreptomycin: Cattle and horses 5 - 10 mg/kg bw. Sheep, pigs and goats 10 - 20 mg/kg bw. Dogs and cats 10 - 15 mg/kg bw. TETRABIOTICO HAMPTON contains per milliliter 400,000 IU of penicillin and 1,000.0 mg of streptomycin, approximate volumes. Cattle and horses: 1 ml per 30 kg bw. Sheep, pigs and goats: 1 ml per 30 kg bw. Dogs and cats: 1 ml per 15 kg bw. Administer intramuscularly. Do not administer intravenously.
